CHINA TOUR 2024

A Flamboyant Tour in China

Last month, the quintet flew to China, where they performed 13 concerts. They presented Feux, their new repertoire, as well as Dysnomia Live, a unique collaboration with photographer Alexandre Dupeyron. This tour was marked by numerous encounters, emotional moments, and intense sharing.

On October 23rd, Theorem of Joy landed in Shenzhen to perform Feux at the Guangming Cultural Center, defying jetlag with energy.

Next stop was Suzhou, where the quintet lit up the third edition of the Montreux Jazz China Festival, sharing their universe with a captivated audience.

On October 27th, they headed north to the famous Blue Note Beijing, where Theorem of Joy presented Feux to an enthusiastic Beijing crowd.

Alexandre Dupeyron joined the adventure, marking the start of two exceptional Dysnomia Live concerts:

The first concert took place at the Dong Ying Yuan Temple, a former temple turned art center, and the second at the Dawn Dusk Club, an iconic venue for contemporary music in Beijing.

On November 1st: Amidst a typhoon, Theorem of Joy arrived in Shanghai, but the concerts went off without a hitch. Feux resonated in the magnificent JZ Club, with the participation of Voision Xi, a rising star in China’s new jazz scene.

On November 2nd: The prestigious Fotografiska Museum opened its doors for a unique performance of Dysnomia Live across three screens. In front of a packed audience of 300 people, the immersive experience transported the attendees.

The tour concluded in style in the Fujian region with two final concerts and a memorable encounter with Lucy Luan, a talented Guzheng player, for an unforgettable moment of musical fusion.

Eight months of preparation, and these three weeks of touring passed like a waking dream. This intense and radiant journey has sown seeds that we are confident will bloom sooner or later.

We thank all the partners, institutions, and professional and artistic contributors who made this adventure possible. Carried by a sincere and profound momentum, we look optimistically to the future of our relationships with China.

What we have sown through our artistic and human encounters, we already see as the beginning of a fertile dialogue, destined to grow and enrich over the long term.
